Ingredients:
- 2 cups of Urad dal
- 1 cup of Moong dal
- 1 cup of Yogurt (dahi)
- 2 cups of Water (for soaking)
- ½ tsp of Baking soda
- A pinch of Asafoetida (Hing)
- Salt to taste
- Sugar to taste
- Chaat Masala
- Tamarind Chutney
- Green Chutney
- Sev (for garnishing)
- Oil for deep frying
- Coriander leaves (for garnishing)
Instructions:
- Soak the urad dal and moong dal overnight in water. The next day, drain the water and grind the soaked dal to a fine paste using a grinder. Add water as required.
- Add asafoetida, baking soda, and salt to the paste, and mix well.
- Heat up oil in a frying pan or kadhai. Make small sized bhalla and fry them until they turn light brown in color.
- Remove the fried bhallas from the oil and keep them aside to cool down to room temperature.
- In a bowl, mix the yogurt with a little water to make it smooth. Add sugar and salt to the mix.
- Soak the fried bhalla in water for 10 minutes then squeeze out the water from them.
- Arrange the bhalla on a serving plate, pour the yogurt mix on them. Drizzle with both tamarind and green chutneys.
- Sprinkle chaat masala, sev, and coriander leaves for garnish.
