Kebab Rolls
Pakistani kebab rolls, also known as Pakistani shawarma, is a popular street food in Pakistan. It is a delicious and filling combination of meat, vegetables, spices, and sauces that are rolled up in a crunchy paratha or roti. The dish is served hot and is best enjoyed with a mint chutney or garlic yogurt sauce.
Kebab rolls are a great option for a quick and easy meal, as they are versatile and can be made with a variety of meats, including beef, chicken, and lamb. The meat is usually marinated in a blend of spices, such as cumin, coriander, and turmeric, which gives it a flavorful and authentic taste.
The dish is typically served with onions, lettuce, and tomatoes, which add a refreshing crunch and texture to the rolls. The vegetables are often lightly pickled in vinegar, giving them a slightly tangy taste that complements the meat and spices.
Kebab rolls are also a popular choice for parties and gatherings in Pakistan, as they are easy to make in large quantities and can be eaten on the go. They are often served with a side of fries, which add a satisfyingly crispy element to the dish.
One of the most important components of kebab rolls is the bread. In Pakistan, paratha and roti are the most commonly used breads for this dish. Paratha is a layered, flaky bread that is made by rolling dough into thin layers and then frying it in oil. Roti is a thin, flatbread that is cooked on a hot griddle.
Both paratha and roti provide a sturdy base for the meat and vegetables, allowing the rolls to be held and eaten without falling apart. The breads also have a slightly sweet and buttery flavor, which complements the savory taste of the kebab filling.
To make kebab rolls at home, you will need to marinate the meat, prepare the vegetables, and make the bread. The meat is typically cooked on a skewer or grill, but can also be made in a frying pan or oven. The vegetables should be chopped and lightly seasoned with salt and vinegar.
The bread can be made from scratch or purchased pre-made from a local Pakistani grocery store. To assemble the rolls, place a piece of bread on a flat surface, add the meat and vegetables on top, and roll the bread tightly around the filling.
Overall, Pakistani kebab rolls are a delicious and satisfying meal that can be enjoyed anytime. Whether you’re looking for a quick snack or a filling dinner, this mouth-watering street food is sure to please.
